Robert De Niro excels in this drama about a seasoned homicide detective who becomes torn between duty and family when his troubled son is suspected of murder. Vincent LaMarca (De Niro) is a cop who believes the punishment should fit the crime, but when a drug dealer's slaying points to LaMarca's strung-out son Joey, the lawman struggles to come to grips with the situation.
