In 2012, conductor Philippe Herreweghe recorded the famous Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels with the Collegium Vocale Gent, a musical ensemble he founded in 1970. Composed in 1734, the Christmas Oratorio is a masterpiece of the Baroque period. It comprises six cantatas inspired by the Gospels according to St. Luke and St. Matthew.
