From the Daily Dot

In the aftermath of the second World War, a young writer travels to a small island in the English Channel, investigating a small story that reflects the larger horrors of the war. Directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Guernsey is a charming, old-fashioned tale of wounded people trying to pick up the pieces in the wake of tragedy, and a much more appealing dish than the concoction that gives the film its name.
