Making a Murderer
From the Daily Dot
Making a Murderer became one of Netflix's first major true-crime documentaries in December 2015, and it marked a turning point in the platform's quest to build out the genre. Nearly three years later, Making a Murderer Part 2 arrives unsure of what story it's telling. The new season explores how the court of public opinion influenced the case of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey and follows Avery's post-conviction lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, as she tries to prove Avery's innocence. One wonders if the filmmakers – short on new characters, in-person interviews with Avery and Dassey, or any major breaks in the case – drew out some B-roll and familial storylines in an effort to fill space.
