A body floating down the river is mistakenly believed to be Rafael Escalona, then a student at the local high school, and the whole town comes together.

Rafa wants it both ways: to have Maye to himself and to flirt with other girls. Meanwhile, Anastasio Espuelas seems to have moved to town.

Rafa returns to school with his friends after Maye gives him an ultimatum. Rafa's absence makes it easier for Anastasio to make his move.

When their friend Miguel goes missing during a school break, Rafa refuses to believe Anastasio's assurances and recruits his friends to look for him.

Two important leaders from the capital, a liberal and a conservative, come for a visit. Maye satisfies her curiosity about Anastasio.

Rafa decides to not go back to school, the last straw for Maye. Pipe tries to keep him out of the black market. Anastasio strikes a deal with Pavajeau.

Rafa needs to find a job. But in trying to make an initial investment, he risks losing Pavajeau's prize rooster to Anastasio.

On the icy mountain top, Rafa, Maye and Miguel make an improbable discovery, but after Miguel speaks with the tribal chief, he swears them to secrecy.

Rafa and Maye return to town, where Sara chews out both of them. They make a decision, but a missing relic from a local church throws off their plan.

Anastasio has a plan to pull Maye away from Rafa and it appears to be working. Meanwhile, Pipe and Desideria grow closer.

Anastasio's plan is surprisingly effective. Rafa falls hard for Nara, with his friends running out of patience but still covering for him.

A crestfallen Rafa, now a social outcast, can't seem to win back Maye. Desideria confronts her father about making decisions without consulting her.

To cheer up Lili, Maye's heartbroken sister, Anastasio dreams up a beauty pageant. But Rafa and Pavajeau find a way to mess with Anastasio's event.

With Sara on her deathbed, Maye and Anastasio's wedding must be postponed. Rafa rushes from the sierra to say goodbye to his and Maye's godmother.

Maye decides to take a trip to visit relatives and clear her head. Anastasio convinces a visitor that Molina is the only artist who can paint her.

Desideria's father is convinced Rafa is the reason she's in trouble, and only one person can convince him otherwise. Anastasio waits for Maye.

El General makes Desideria and her family an extraordinarily generous offer. Rafa and Anastasio wait for Maye's decision.

Pipe makes an indecorous appearance at a local celebration, forcing Rafa and Pavajeau to maneuver around many of the town's illustrious citizens.

Alonso Doce unexpectedly challenges Pipe, who confesses his failures to Desideria. Rafa and his friends continue to celebrate, and then tragedy strikes.

In the midst of celebrating engagements and mourning losses, Rafa and his pals discover Simón has been challenged to an accordion match.

Anastasio has one final, very eerie challenge for Rafa. Afterward, he, Maye, Pau and Pavajeau discuss their futures with Sara.
